Strong Roots

Strong Roots is a project to increase the capacity of community and town councils to both lead and support sustainable development and to partner the Welsh Government in its commitment to the development of sustainable, resilient, low-carbon communities.

Through a bilingual training programme now being delivered by Cynnal Cymru, councillors will build their capacity to:

  1. Take action on sustainable development and climate change;
  2. Support voluntary and residents groups to develop their own initiatives;
  3. Provide leadership on sustainable development in their communities and facilitate effective links between citizens and other tiers of government and public administration.

As well as training sessions, we are developing additional resources and means of learning and support by working with partners. We anticipate that the project will extend over a number of years and will establish strong links with other aspects of our work.
